Let’s get past the common focus on ‚circular economy‘ talk that neglects fundamental economic structures and opposes the reliance on infinite growth and ‚end-of-pipe‘ waste solutions. Instead, I draw on the work of ‚forgotten heretics‘ of economics—such as Kenneth Boulding, Herman Daly, and Frederick Soddy—to argue that we must view nature as a finite provider and treat resources as ‚accounts payable‘ rather than ‚accounts receivable.‘
My approach advocates for a cadence where:
- Resources are deeply valued and designed for longevity.
- Consumption is a conscious act rather than a reflex.
- Growth is redefined not by speed, but by effectiveness, autonomy, and the ability to thrive within natural limits.
